Weapons & Loadouts:
Build Roles, Slots and Upgrade Logic
Choose RIG Riot weapons by role, understand slot-specific upgrade choices, and avoid loadouts that fight against your movement and mod plan.

Start with a weapon role, not a weapon name
The Steam store itself describes three broad build shapes: a light mobile sniper, a rounded missile + automatic-rifle setup, and a tankier laser-blade + shotgun setup. Those are useful because they define jobs that remain understandable even when individual weapon balance shifts.
Precision
Create distance, invest in targeting/range support and protect mobility.
Sustained fire
Keep pressure consistent and use shoulder burst to solve tougher targets.
Pressure
Pair melee/shotgun-style damage with durability and a gap-closing plan.
How slot-specific upgrades change the decision
The current tutorial demonstrates selecting a weapon slot before choosing an upgrade, allowing the upgrade to target that slot. This matters because “good augment” is not enough — it must land on the weapon doing the job you care about.
The two-weapon coherence test
- Do both weapons want roughly the same engagement distance?
- Can one cover the other’s downtime, ammo pressure or weak target type?
- Do your Volatile Mods trigger from both, or at least from the weapon you use most?
- Does your RIG have the load/energy/weapon capacity to carry the plan without gutting movement?
Why this is not a launch-day tier list
Full-game unlocks, rare effects and live balance are not sufficiently evidenced before Steam unlock. The useful answer right now is role + synergy + slot logic. Absolute S/A/B rankings would be theatre.
